Gardai in Kilkenny led the raid across 24 hours

KILKENNY, Ireland - In a massive operation, gardai in Kilkenny arrested 42 people, in a raid conducted across 40 properties - within a span of 24 hours.
According to reports, officers from the Kilkenny-Carlow division seized 20,000 euros worth of drugs and that five vehicles were searched during the raid.
Gardai said that the operation called Project Storm was aimed at "preventing crime, disrupting criminal activity, apprehending criminals and to enhance community engagement.”
According to officials, the full operation included 77 checkpoints, 21 premises searched, 27 arrested for theft, assault, fraud, burglary and drugs offences, 15 arrests on a warrant, 5 vehicles seized, 21 properties searched and total of 20,000 euros worth of drugs seized from 11 incidents.
Officials also said that 17 people are now currently detained at Kilkenny and Carlow Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
A further ten people have been charged to appear before the courts.
