LIMERICK, Ireland - The Criminal Assets Bureau led a massive operation across homes and businesses in Limerick, Clare and Tipperary.
The CAB operation targeted the activities of criminal organisations, as part of which, searches began on Wednesday morning in Limerick and across the Mid West region.
The Garda Press Office said in a statement that the searches are being conducted as part of “ongoing investigations into the purchase of land, vehicles and other assets by organised criminal groups based in the region.”
The local gardai and members of the armed Regional Support Unit are said to have assisted in the search operation.
According to officials, searches were carried out at a number of private residences as well as at several business premises.
Officials revealed that documentation, mobile phones, computer equipment and other electronic devices seized during the operation and will now be subjected to a detailed examination.
According to a garda spokesperson, so far no arrests have been planned at this stage of the investigation.
