France's Gilles Simon made quick work of top-seeded Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals of the Open 13 Provence, winning 6-4, 6-0 on Friday in Marseilles, France.
Simon won points on 91 percent (21 of 23) of his first serves in play while prevailing in 67 minutes. Medvedev's first-serve rate was 50 percent (15 of 30 in play). Simon also converted 5 of 6 break points while saving 1 of 2 break points on his own serve.
Next up for Simon is a semifinal matchup with seventh-seeded Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, who beat Belarusian qualifier Egor Gerasimov 7-5, 6-2.
The other semifinal will feature second-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece and Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan, who both got past Canadian opponents. Tsitsipas defeated Vasek Pospisil 7-5, 6-3, and Bublik topped fourth-seeded Denis Shapovalov 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
Delray Beach Open
Second-seeded Canadian Milos Raonic lost his serve only in the match's first game en route to a 7-6 (6), 6-3 win over the United States' Steve Johnson in the quarterfinals at Delray Beach, Fla.
Johnson was frequently in trouble on his serve, as he staved off 8 of 11 break points.
Fourth-seeded Reilly Opelka of the United States earned a semifinal date with Raonic by ousting South Korea's Soonwoo Kwon 6-3, 6-4.
Sixth-seeded Ugo Humbert of France advanced to the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-2 rout of the United States' Frances Tiafoe. Humbert next will face off with Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka, who edged the United States' Brandon Nakashima 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
Rio Open
Only one half of the semifinal field is set after rain disrupted play in Rio de Janeiro.
Third-seeded Cristian Garin of Chile nipped Argentinian qualifier Federico Coria 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, to set up a semifinal matchup with fifth-seeded Croatian Borna Coric, who beat Italy's Lorenzo Sonego 7-6 (5), 6-3.
The other two quarterfinals were suspended due to the weather. Italian qualifier Gianluca Mager leads top-seeded Dominic Thiem of Austria 7-6 (4), 2-1 and is up a service break in the second set. Spanish qualifier Pedro Martinez has a 6-2, 2-2 edge on Hungarian lucky loser Attila Balazs.
The suspended matches will conclude Saturday, with the winners meeting in a semifinal match later the same day.
