SEOUL -- Lee Kun-hee, chairman of South Korea's tech behemoth Samsung Electronics, died at the age of 78 in Seoul on Sunday, leaving his heirs faced with a huge inheritance tax for succession.
Samsung said in a statement that Lee passed away with his family by his side, including Samsung Electronics vice chairman Lee Jae-yong, the senior Lee's only son and an heir apparent. (South Korea-Samsung-Death)

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 3,732 within one day to 389,712, with the death toll adding by 94 to 13,299, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.
According to the ministry, 4,545 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 313,764. (Indonesia-COVID-19)

HONG KONG -- The decline in Hong Kong's GDP in the third quarter should narrow significantly from the roughly 9-percent decline in the first two quarters of this year, Paul Chan, financial secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, said Sunday.
Hong Kong's economy, which has contracted for four consecutive quarters, is not yet out of recession, but the contraction pressure is expected to be slightly relieved if the epidemic situation in Hong Kong continues to be contained, the financial chief wrote in a blog article. (Hong Kong-Economy)

LAHORE, Pakistan -- Pakistan's first ever metro train service, the Orange Line, started its commercial operation Sunday in the country's historical city of Lahore, the capital city of Punjab province, opening a new stage for the South Asian country in the public transportation sector.
As an early harvest project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Orange Line was constructed by China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. and China North Industries Corporation and was operated by Guangzhou Metro Group, Norinco International and Daewoo Pakistan Express Bus Service. NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally reached 7,864,811 as 50,129 new cases were registered, latest data released by the federal health ministry showed on Sunday.
The death toll surged to 118,534, with 578 deaths recorded since Saturday morning.
Still there are 668,154 active COVID-19 cases in the country. A total of 7,078,123 people have been successfully cured. (India-COVID-19)
