AUSTIN, Texas: Tesla has confirmed that it moved its headquarters from Palo Alto, California to a location next to its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
At the company's 2021 shareholder's meeting in October, Tesla founder Elon Musk announced plans to move the headquarters from Palo Alto, California.
In a December 1 Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Tesla stated that the company's new headquarter's address is Austin, Texas.
The new headquarters is near the Gigafactory Texas site, which covers an area of 2,000 acres.
Musk said, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, that Tesla plans to leave California due to problems caused by state Covid restrictions, which presented difficulties in restarting auto production.
Tesla later announced plans to build a large factory and complex in Austin, but the company's headquarters remained in Palo Alto.
After Musk relocated his home to Texas, rumors spread that Tesla would soon follow.
Despite confirming the move to Texas, Musk still insists the company will continue to grow in California.
