CO LEITRIM, Ireland - A woman passenger in one of two cars that collided on the R280 on Thursday night was killed in the crash.
The two drivers were both taken to Sligo University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and to be tested. The woman who died was aged in her 50s.
An investigation into the fatal crash has been ordered and investigators are appealing for witnesses.
The two cars collided just before six o'clock on Thursday night prompting emergency calls to early responders who were quickly on the scene.
The crash occurred on the R280 at Lisnabrack, Carrick on Shannon in County Leitrim.
A technical examination of the scene was being carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators while the road at the crash site was closed with local traffic diversions in place.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact gardai. Any road users with camera footage (including dashcam) who travelled on the R208 in the Lisnabrack area at the time of the collision, are asked to make this available to investigators.
